Doodle Bugs! Team Tuesday: Issue #18
“If we want our children to possess the traits of character
we most admire, we need to teach them what those traits are
and why they deserve both admiration and allegiance.”
— William J. Bennett
To create a caring community of learners, a teacher must understand the value of character education and be a positive role model. It is a pleasure to recognize a team member who, through her work with our school age students, creates a positive classroom environment that fosters respectful relationships and a shared sense of community.
Team Tuesday: Alex Baule (Cheektowaga center)
Miss Alex uses several successful strategies to enhance children’s relationships and promote positive interactions:
- ‘School Age Stars’ provides an outlet to recognize any personal or education accomplishments that students achieve.
- A ‘Compliments Chart’ encourages children to write a compliment to another friend, promoting positive feelings and conversations.
- The ‘Manners Meter’ celebrates appropriate, polite interactions.
- “She is creative, nice and respectful.” — Brooke and Megan M. (school age students)
- “She is really kind, creative and fair. She is the BEST!” — Madison M. (school age student)
- “She is very nice to all of her friends and to me. I love Miss Alex!” — Katie G. (school age student)
Thank you, Alex, for the many ways that you show that you CARE and encourage our students to do the same; the doodle community is a better place because of you.
