12 Directors of Doodle Bugs! McCandless Edition

This month we are taking a moment to recognize the 12 Center Directors from our corporate locations. Being the leader of a child care center is a big job. Not only are Directors overseeing their team, and the daily operations in the center, they are also role models, nurturers, cheerleaders and teachers for all of the children in the building.

On day 1 of our 12 Days of Doodle Directors we are excited to celebrate Miss Laura Walzer, Center Director at our McCandless, PA location!

Miss Laura has been the Director in McCandless for 2 years and came to Doodle Bugs! with a lot of expertise. In addition to her 7 years of prior experience in early childhood education, she has a Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati and Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Dayton.

If you ask Laura, the best part of her day is getting into the classrooms and building relationships with the children. In fact, the faculty and children in her center affectionately call her “Teacher Boss”.

Laura is proud to send her own son to Doodle Bugs! and be able to personally witness the positive impact the program is having on him.

Being a part of a great team and being to work with good friends is important to Laura. “I have an amazing Director Assistant, Leah, who has been with me from the beginning– she can finish my sentences and is always right there with me. I don’t know what I would do without her.”

But, you don’t have to take it from us, just listen to what some of her team members have to say:

I can’t say enough about Laura. I affectionately call her the “Director of the Universe.” None of the day-to-day stressors seem to get her down. In addition to being a great role model, she is also approachable with my concerns. Another thing I love is that she has often given me a hug because she’s genuinely missed me after an absence.    – Tracy Price

She cares about her employees and stands by their side, even during the tough times.  – Jansen Hartmann and Marina Rozick

Laura puts everything she has into our center. She knows every single person that walks through the door and can greet them by name! The bond she creates with her colleagues is admirable. She is simply the best!  – Abbey Bucci

She strives every day to be the absolute best for the children, families, and teachers. We love you, Laura!  – Emma Hartman

Laura is the heart of our center. She is not only a great mentor but a great friend to all! She puts Doodle Bugs first and does anything and everything she can to make sure the center is running as smoothly as possible!  – Leah Sharlow
