Totally “A-peeling” Art!

It is important to encourage children to engage in creative “process”, as opposed to “product”. This activity is a fun way to not only explore with different methods of art, but practice fine motor skills!

You will need:

  • Masking tape
  • Paint
  • Paper
  • Paintbrushes, fingers, sponges – anything to paint with!
  1. Show the children how to rip a piece of tape off of a masking tape roll. For the younger children, pull off strips of different lengths and stick them to the edge of the table.
  2. Encourage them to make designs with the strips of tape on a piece of paper.
  3. Using a paint brush, sponges, or fingers, have the children cover their piece of paper completely with different colors of paint.
  4. When the project is dry, show the children how to gently peel the tape off to reveal their designs! For the younger children, peel the edge of the tape up and show them how to pull away from the paper.
  5. You can also try this with dot stickers, band-aids and other fun-shaped sticky materials.

Enjoy your painting and peeling!
