Local Author Visits Doodle Bugs! to Celebrate Taste of Doodleville Week
In celebration of Taste of Doodleville week at Doodle Day Camp, our Buffalo-area centers welcomed local author, Lisa Abbott, for a fun reading of her book, I Dig Figs. The story took summer campers on a nutritional journey through the alphabet, introducing a healthy food for each letter along with their nutritional benefits. In addition to the story, Lisa brought several foods for the children to touch and smell. We touched and smelled ginger root, figs, turmeric, kale and more!
Miss Lisa is an educator who has taught children from kindergarten through grade 6 and her experience was evident. She did a wonderful job engaging with each curious child during her visit.
Lisa received her M.Ed. from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She also received training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to practice as a Health Coach. Nutrition and fitness have always been an important part of her life and has a vested interest in teaching children of all ages how to make healthy choices in order to lead healthy lives.
Our mission at Doodle Bugs! is to is to build a community of happy children, happy parents and happy teachers. We recognize that healthy children are happy children and are thrilled to have had the opportunity to bring in an author whose values and expertise compliment ours!
