Grandparents Day Celebration – Wednesday, September 16

Hip, hip, hooray – it’s almost Grandparents Day!

This year, Grandparents Day is observed nationally on Sunday, September 13th. In our classrooms, we will be celebrating this special holiday on Wednesday, September 16th — coincidentally, this is also National Play-Doh Day! Since Play-Doh made its debut on toy shelves in 1955, this will also be a wonderfully nostalgic experience for many grandparents.

Your lesson plans include lots of suggestions for Event Prep, as well as fun-filled experiences that grandparents can join in all day long. Please be sure to check out the additional Suggestions for Celebrating Grandparents Day too, if you haven’t already. Keep in mind that this is an all-day celebration, to allow families to participate at their convenience — this means you may have guests throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, stories, centers, yoga, snack, or even for outdoor play!

Above all else, it’s important to remember that the Grandparents Day celebration will be the first impression of Doodle Bugs! for many of our guests. We want families to feel welcome, valued, and “at home” in our classrooms, right from the start — please extend a warm welcome to our guests, and take advantage of every opportunity to “make a moment.”
