Grandparents Day 2015 – Come Celebrate with Us!
This year, Grandparents Day is on Sunday, September 13 and Doodle Bugs! will be celebrating on Wednesday, September 16. During our celebration, grandparents (or other special guests) are invited to stop in for a special treat and activity to celebrate this important day. For your family’s convenience, this is an all-day event. We want to see all your adorable photos too! Share them with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and hashtag it #DBlove.
Grandparents Day began in 1979 when President Jimmy Carter signed the proclamation. Carter once wrote, “Grandparents are our continuing tie to the near-past, to the events and beliefs and experiences that so strongly affect our lives and the world around us.”
There’s no time like the present—let’s make 2015 the best Grandparents Day yet! Here are some simple ways to remind grandparents how important they are.
- Help your child make their own card. Extra points for breaking out the paints! (photo)
- Have your child pick out a special book and read it with their grandparents. Too far away? Utilize FaceTime or Skype! (How to Babysit a Grandpa)
- Create a book full of your child’s artwork. There are so many companies that will help you to create and print a personalized book from your photos. Check out Artifact Uprising, one of my favorites right now! Check this out for inspiration!
- Bake a pie with grandpa and grandma. When it’s done, break out the fancy plates and enjoy! (photo)
- Can’t see them in person? Mail them a box of love! Include handmade heart confetti, photos, handprints, artwork, anything that shows how much your care! (photo)
