Doodle Bugs! Team Tuesday: Issue #43

It’s always a pleasure to highlight the personal touches our team members add to their classrooms. Today’s edition of Team Tuesday features Kelsey and Allegra, the teaching team in our Kindergarten Wrap classroom at the Webster center. Kindergarten Wrap supplements the district’s half day kindergarten sessions, offering students opportunities to enjoy the benefits of a doodle day before and after traditional kindergarten classes.

Liz Vandetti, Center Director, nominated this teaching team because she is particularly impressed with their implementation of the current thematic unit, Holidays Around the World. Teachers introduce a specific holiday celebration each day, which is supplemented by songs, stories and learning center experiences.

Each student has a ‘suitcase’ with a world map on the front and a personal  ‘passport’ stored safely inside. Passports are stamped with a different country (the origin of the holiday being studied) during circle time.

Kelsey and Allegra’s enthusiasm about teaching translates to exciting  hands-on learning experiences for students. Everyone was especially excited about baking traditional Dutch cookies.

Thanks, Kelsey and Allegra, for your enthusiastic implementation of the Bravo curriculum. The doodle community is a better place because you CARE.
