Doodle Bugs! Standard of the Week: 02/06/12

This week’s SOTW reminds teachers that assessment portfolios should always be accessible to parents and that every child’s portfolio must include:

• At least one photo per month – with indicator label attached.
• Meaningful, interesting work samples – with indicator labels attached.
• Up-to-date assessment checklists (both sides of the page!)
• Personal goals, with follow up noted.

Assessment is always a ‘work in progress’ and is intended to tell a personal,  interesting story about each child’s growth and development. Reviewing a child’s portfolio provides families with relevant information about our doodle days and the many ways we facilitate learning through play.
