Doodle Bugs! 20th Anniversary Celebration: Act of Kindness #20

Today is Mr. Doodle Bug’s 20th birthday and the 20th anniversary of Doodle Bugs! Children’s Centers. To celebrate, our Centers held birthday parties complete with cake, birthday surprises, a celebratory parade or two, and much more!

In addition to the centers’ birthday festivities, Mr. Doodle Bug celebrated his birthday in one other way. To complete his ’20 Acts of Kindness’ – a unique celebration of 20 years of learning & laughter –  he took a very special trip to the children’s wing at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Partnering with Carly’s Club, an extension of Roswell that offers support programs to make life more manageable for children diagnosed with cancer and their families, and to raise funds for pediatric cancer research, Mr. Doodle Bug brought ‘goody bags’ to all of the children receiving active treatment. Each bag included puzzles, coloring books, rinse-off tattoos, crayons, and gift cards to Toys-R-Us.

Mr. Doodle Bug mingled with the children and also had the opportunity to meet Sal, a 20 year survivor who was diagnosed with cancer when he was just a baby. He has been going to Roswell Park ever since, and now that he is in remission only needs to visit once every so often for his check-up.

Along with delivering over forty goody bags, Mr. Doodle Bug also donated two tickets to an upcoming Sabres game. The children will hold a drawing and the winner will be announced next week!

Mr. Doodle Bug would like to extend a big thank you to the Doodle Bugs! faculty members and children who helped him ‘Pay It Forward’ these past few weeks. It was an honor to initiate 20 acts of kindness within our communities, to celebrate 20 years of building a community of happy children, happy parents, and happy teachers.

Happy 20th Birthday Mr. Doodle Bug & Happy 20th Anniversary to Doodle Bugs! Children’s Centers!
