Center Events = Building Community

Have you ever wondered why the children are parading through the center’s halls (again!), or why your child wants to wear his Halloween costume in April? The answer, of course, is our exclusive Center Events series.

apple parade 08 020Understanding that having fun and celebrating the ‘little things’ is an essential part of early childhood, our center plans several exciting Center Events each month. From talent shows and sing-a-longs, to costume parades and fitness Olympics, the entire doodle community (teachers, children, and parents!) participates in these fun-filled events. All events are detailed in our newsletter and on the classroom parents’ boards.

Center events are an important part of our program, not only because they’re lots of fun, but also because:

  • Parties, parades, and sing-a-longs are exciting, hands-on ways to learn. Through storytelling, games, and song, children are introduced to new experiences, and have opportunities to share their family traditions with classmates.
  • Center events – especially our  ‘Community Connections’  – help children begin to understand the world around them, and explore their role in it!Food Drive
  • Parent participation enhances the home-school connection; children take pride in sharing their center experiences with family members!

 Upcoming center events include:

  • little animals 2 (2)Moo, baa, la-la-la! Join in the Barnyard Banter Fun on Thursday, October 22nd. This fun-filled event supplements our thematic unit – ask a teacher for more information!
  • Our annual Pumpkin Festival is October 28th and 29th. Activities include Scarecrow Building Contests, Pumpkin and Leaf Hunts and more!
  • Happy Halloween! Friday, October 30th is our Halloween Party, the biggest party of the year! Come in costume, bring a treat to share (keeping in mind that candy/food items must be store-bought) and have fun trick-or-treating around the center.

We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to learn and laugh with your child, and invite you to join us whenever you can!
