FYI & Parent Reminders

  • Summer Camp 2008 is just around the corner! Enrollment contracts must be returned by May 1st to secure a spot in our summer program.

  • School-agers are invited to attend Doodle Bugs! on elementary school holidays. Our Vacation Club provides a safe, supervised environment with plenty of fun and educational activities. Please let us know if your school-ager will need care during the upcoming school holidays. We will be open our regularly scheduled hours.

  • The information on your enrollment forms can quickly become outdated. Please provide us with up-to-date medicals, phone numbers, and pick up authorizations.

  • Have you seen your child’s assessment portfolio? Daily observation of your child’s participation in classroom activities provides our staff with insight about his/her developmental growth. Observations are recorded on monthly checklists, and filed in your child’s individual assessment portfolio. This file is kept in your child’s classroom, and is always available for your review.

  • Keep an eye out for specific dates for Parent-Teacher conferences. Sign-in sheets will be periodically posted, allowing you to sign up for a personal meeting with your child’s teacher.  This is a terrific opportunity to review your child’s portfolio! We also encourage you to take advantage of invitations to Coffee with the Director, and to attend our annual Open House.

  • We’re proud to announce that Katelyn Cleveland, Preschool Teacher from our Williamsville center was named company Employee of the Month for April. Congratulations, Katelyn!  Remember, nomination forms can be submitted by both parents & staff - you can even e-mail a nomination to customer.service@doodlebugs.com Your comments count, so please tell us about a super staff member today!

Wonder Why?

Have you ever wondered why the children are parading through the center’s halls (again!), or why your child wants to wear his Halloween costume in April? The answer, of course, is our exclusive Center Events series.

Understanding that having fun and celebrating the “little things” is an essential part of early childhood, our center plans several exciting Center Events each month. From talent shows and sing-a-longs, to costume parades and fitness Olympics, the entire center family (staff, children, and parents!) participates in these fun-filled events. All events are detailed in on the reverse of this newsletter, and on the classroom parents’ boards.

Center events are an important part of our program, not only because they’re lots of fun, but also because:

Parties, parades, and sing-a-longs are exciting, hands-on ways to learn. Through storytelling, games, and song, children are introduced to new experiences, and have opportunities to share their family traditions with classmates.

Center events, especially our monthly “Community Connections,” help children begin to understand the world around them, and explore their role in it!

Parent participation enhances the home-school connection; children take pride in sharing their center experiences with family members!

We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to learn and laugh with your child, and invite you to join us whenever you can.
